Donate How We Help Home Impact of Coronavirus on the Food Bank In coordination with Feeding America , Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is actively monitoring developments related to COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are taking proactive measures to protect the health and well-being of our staff, volunteers, and clients as we continue to serve our community. The Food Bank plans to provide uninterrupted service, supplying food to its agency partners. We are, however, suspending volunteer activities within our warehouse until further notice. Additionally, CFB is making adjustments to its direct-service programs to meet the changing needs and new challenges facing our community. For the safety of our staff and the public, the Corner Market Mobile Grocery Store has suspended operations for remainder of this month.The Food Bank is also discussing the mobilization of additional resources to benefit impacted individuals and communities should the situation necessitate it. The Food Bank has not received reports of coronavirus cases from our staff or partner agency network.We are monitoring the situation closely and taking necessary precautions to help make sure that food and product remains safe, our staff remain healthy, and that our distributions can continue. Anyone associated with the Food Bank’s activity including community volunteers, clients, and staff members are being encouraged to follow the guidelines set by the CDC and Alabama Department of Public Health . We found that the people we serve are facing tough choices between buying food and paying for basic needs. These parents, students, seniors, and working families are struggling with hunger and depend on food assistance to make ends meet.
